Why Cargo Insurance is important?

During transit, your cargo is exposed to various risks, despite the safety measures put in place by carriers. Damages or losses may occur during handling, storage or transport operations: this could have a serious impact on your business. Cargo insurance provides protection against all risks of physical loss or damage to goods from any external cause during shipping, whether by land, sea or air.

It covers all risks except the exclusions as stated in the relevant clauses. Some of the exclusions are as below;

Exclusions

  • Loss damage or expense caused by inherent vice or nature of the subject-matter insured
  • Ordinary leakage, ordinary loss in weight or volume, or ordinary wear and tear of the subject-matter insured
  • Loss damage or expense caused by insufficiency or unsuitability of packing or preparation of the subject-matter insured
  • Loss damage or expense proximately caused by delay, even though the delay be caused by a risk insured against
  • Loss damage or expense arising from the use of any weapon of war employing atomic or nuclear fission and/or fusion or other like reaction or radioactive force or matter.
  • Loss damage or expense attributable to willful misconduct of the Assured
  • War, civil war, strike, terror, riots etc…

We have a possibility of insuring cargoes and issuing insurance policy right on the spot, saving thereby time and cutting the expenses of our clients.

In order to procure insurance policy for the cargo, we need to receive forwarding and commercial documents, as well as your application for insurance. After we receive approval of the client on the insurance policy rates (which depend on the cargo transportation route), we arrange the insurance process and the client receives so called “ON LINE insurance policy within very short time, necessary for the insurance company to register our inquiry in the system.

As is well known, all international transportations are subject to obligatory insurance, but not the cargo itself is being insured, but the responsibility of a carrier which is limited by the international rules. Therefore, worldwide it is made practice of additionally insuring the CARGO for its full cost. Taking into account that the cost of the cargo insurance is low enough, we advise all our clients to consider the possibility of procuring the insurance policy for the cargo.
